We Fight Fraud

Dear Fraud Fighting Community,

Fraud and Financial Crime is at an all-time high, it is considered a threat to national security and costs businesses over £157.8 billion in the UK alone. It is clear that we are in desperate need of the protection that comes from evidence-based fraud and financial crime prevention. This is exactly what We Fight Fraud (WFF) does. As WFF’s new CEO, I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and communicate our continued commitment towards our vision of reducing the harm of financial crime by cultivating secure cultures in both business and our communities.

I started my journey with WFF in 2020, when, as a Criminologist at Lancaster University, I began researching fraud and financial crime with the team. Before later becoming We Fight Fraud’s Director of Research and Education. During this period, I have witnessed first-hand the unwavering commitment of each member of the WFF team and our wider community, to our mission of combating financial crime.

As I step into the role of CEO, I bring with me not only a deep understanding of our organisation but also a profound sense of pride in the impactful work we do. I am confident that my expertise in the area of financial crime, with a deep passion for prevention that is evidence based, research informed and lived experienced driven will help us significantly amplify our momentum. We stand at the forefront of financial crime prevention, and I am excited to lead WFF into a future marked by innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

As we embark upon this next phase of growth for WFF, my priority will be to work with the talented WFF team to strengthen our offerings and ensure that we continue to offer immense value to our customers and community. I truly believe that WFF has enormous potential to grow and innovate, and I look forward to leading the company into a new era of success.

But I will not be doing this alone. I am delighted to announce that Dr Mark Goldspink, former CEO at the AI Corporation will be joining the team as Chair of the Board of Directors.

Mark has a distinguished career, beginning with a PhD in Chemistry that led to becoming a leader in the oil industry before moving towards his passion of applying technological solutions to solving business problems and driving improvements in fraud and financial crime prevention and detection within the payments sector. I am delighted that Mark has agreed to join us, formalising the long-standing relationship Mark has with the WFF team.

With Mark’s support, Co-founders Adam Boome (Chief Content Officer) and Tony Sales (Chief Product Officer), Steve Garvey (Chief Finance Officer), Andy McDonald (Senior Advisor), and Solomon Gilbert (Head of Cyber) and our excellent team will continue to identify emerging vulnerabilities in the emerging threat landscape. We are committed to creating engaging and impactful content that achieves our aim of financial crime prevention,  collaboration with our partners, and to listen to your feedback. I invite each member of our community to join me in this pursuit of excellence, where creativity flourishes, diverse perspectives thrive, and prevention is the key to a secure financial landscape.

Our community is our catalyst for transformative innovation, and we are poised for exciting projects  that will challenge conventional norms and push the boundaries of what is possible in financial crime prevention. I am excited about the opportunity to work with you. Please feel free to reach out to me or our team with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support, and I am eager to embark on this exciting chapter with you all as ‘We Fight Fraud’… together.

Nicola
